Welcome To Lakeview Cooperative Preschool
Lakeview Cooperative Preschool (formerly Lakeview Nursery, Inc.) was founded in 1959 on the north side of Madison. We are a parent-operated, non-profit, non-sectarian preschool. The officers on the Board of Directors are elected by the parent membership. One of the many benefits of Lakeview is the staff-to-student ratio. The ratio for class each day is one adult to five children, the standard in the industry is 1 to 10. We are offer a new program where parents can choose which days and the number of days they would like their child to attend. Tuition is based on the number of days of attendance each week. Students must be at least three years of age and must be potty trained in order to attend classes. Classes are held Monday thru Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., Lunch Bunch is 11:45am to 12:30pm. Lakeview stresses the education of the whole child with an emphasis on social development. Our goal is to provide each student with a series of experiences in which he/she can develop and participate at his/her on pace. We believe in the value, dignity and worth of all children and in their need to express their individuality. We promote a climate in which each child may grow in maturity and self-esteem. Our curriculum exposes children to music, art, pre-math games, science, cooking, story time, and free play, in a relaxed, yet structured atmosphere. On a typical day the children might help plant a garden, visit a local fire station, or pretend to be a veterinarian or museum tour guide. As several local elementary school teachers have noted, children who attend Lakeview are particularly well prepared for kindergarten in terms of social skills, listening, and an enthusiasm for learning. We invite you and your child to visit Lakeview Cooperative Preschool during our normal class hours. Please call first to make sure we are in session that day and to allow us to plan for snacks and art supplies. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions. We look forward to meeting you and your child.
Children-Parents-Teachers-Learning Together!
We believe in the value, dignity and worth of all children and in their need to express their individuality. We promote a climate in which each child may grow in maturity and self-esteem. Our experienced teachers work together with committed parents to create a gently structured learning environment and foster a sense of community among preschool age children. Our program stresses social development, respect for others, listening skills, intellectual exploration, and creative expression through art, music, and cooperative play. OUR TEACHERS Part of Lakeview Cooperative Preschool’s rich tradition is the high standard of education provided by our teaching staff. Lakeview staffs a Lead Teacher and an Assistant Teacher. Both teachers hold a teaching certification from the State of Wisconsin and are continually updating their skills. The goal of our teachers is to provide each student with a series of experiences that help the child to develop at his or her own pace. Every educator bring special interests and skills to their teaching. Our teachers bring a number of their own talents to the preschool program. Several of their special talents include music, dance, dramatic play, gardening and a love of animals and nature. More importantly, out teachers instill enthusiasm and encouragement in our students, while recognizing each child’s individual needs and personality. Please feel free to contact Lakeview Preschool to learn more about our teachers, board, and preschool programs. New students must be at least 3 years of age and must be toilet trained.
